Daylight overhead, comfort underneath
Overhead glass is the most demanding glazing there is. It carries its own weight, takes the full force of the sun, has to drain properly and must stay watertight at every junction with the roof, wall or slab. In Dubai it also has to cope with heat build-up, dust and the occasional storm that tests every joint.
Because Al Jawadri is a main contractor as well as a glazing team, the roof upstand, waterproofing, drainage falls and glass supports are planned together. That is where most skylight problems begin: glass supplied to one set of dimensions and a roof built to another.
What we deliver
- Fixed and openable skylights over stairs, atriums and courtyards
- Glass roofs for conservatories, pergolas and terraces
- Glass canopies over entrances and walkways
- Aluminium and steel supported glass structures
- Solar-control, low-E and laminated glass options
- Flashing, sealing and drainage details integrated with the roof
Specification matters overhead
Overhead glazing is normally laminated, so that if a pane is damaged it stays in place rather than falling, and is often combined with a solar-control coating or a double-glazed unit to limit heat gain. Tint, frit patterns and low-E coatings change how much light and heat pass through, and we help you balance a bright interior against cooling load. The consultant or structural engineer defines loads; we confirm the glass build-up and fixings against them.
Waterproofing is part of the glazing
A skylight is only as good as its junction with the roof. We coordinate upstands, membranes and flashings with the waterproofing scope, and test for leaks before finishes close the area. See our waterproofing services for the wider approach.
Information we need
The opening size and position, roof construction, whether the glass should open, desired tint and any drawing from your consultant. For existing buildings, photos and a site visit let us check the structure before proposing a system.
